Perth is one of the few cities where sunset is a daily event worth scheduling around. The Swan River catches the low light and holds it — a wide, calm reflector running past the resort's foreshore.
The deck, the lawn, the water
Three vantage points cover the options. The rooftop lounge faces west with a full skyline frame; the terrace lawns sit lower but put the river in the foreground; and the water itself — on a sunset charter — removes every obstruction between you and the horizon.
Golden hour runs roughly 17:30–19:00 in summer, earlier through winter. The resort publishes exact sunset times at the concierge desk each morning.

The daily ritual
The resort's own tradition is the Golden Hour gathering on the sunset deck: a bell at sundown, aperitivo service and cicchetti plates while the light does its work. It's the resort's most democratic hour — suite guests and day visitors shoulder to shoulder.
After sundown the choice splits: the rooftop lounge warms up with resident DJs, while the riverside restaurants take the lingering blue hour through their western glazing.
Photographing it properly
Face west for the sky, east for the city catching the light, and always include water — the Swan's calm surface is what makes Perth sunsets read differently in photographs.
The jetty's end gives the cleanest skyline line; the lawn gives foreground; and a charter anchored off Pelican Point gives both.
